Tremble all Ye who Enter
Very little of interest here, so few would care. However, this journal is friends only. The only exception are my Photo of the Day entries, which I reset to public if I remember.

If you feel strongly that you want to read what I have to say, reach me somehow and I'll ponder.

Four Weeks of Exercise

Last week wasn't a great week and this week I completely fell down through a combination of things. Last Friday I apparently stressed something in my left heel so I Saturday I took it easy and did my time on the elliptical. It still hurt Sunday morning so I decided I should take the day off.

Then on Monday I got up and went over to the gym only to find the doors were double locked (and my complex key only opens one of them). Returned to bed, resetting alarm. For Tuesday, I forgot to put the alarm back so didn't have time before work.

Wednesday I actually ran and it felt good and I blasted through the best distance so far. But then yesterday I had to go to work too early for any gym time and this morning when I woke up Lani talked me into not leaving (I can't say I resisted strongly). So, seven days and only two sessions at the gym. No choice but to admit my failure and hope I

Total distance covered: 65.45 miles. If I did that consecutively out on city streets, I could walk to Santa Cruz.

So it turns out that two of my friends, from completely different spheres in my life went to the same junior high at the same time.

That is three particularly noteworthy coincidences so far in my life:

1) A boy from Vancouver, WA, becomes friends with two people through completely unrelated activities who it turn out went to the same junior high 1000 miles away (and 400 miles from his current location).

2) Back in my first year of college I took Greyhound every weekend from Seattle to Bellingham to spend time with my girlfriend (later first wife). I caught the city bus from out in a suburb where I was working in an elementary school to the downtown Greyhound station. One trip, a guy got on the city bus at the same time as me. Then we proceeded to move in complete lockstop (city bus, Greyhound, Bellingham bus, same stop, etc.) until it turned out his destination was the apartment next door to my girlfriend's. We never said a word and we (me and the other guy) never saw each other again.

3) A few weeks ago I was on BART without a seat. So I was standing and reading The Ascent of Money on my Kindle. I looked down over the shoulder of a person sitting next to me. That person was reading The Ascent of Money (on paper). Not a hugely popular book but the kicker was that when I looked closer he was on exactly the same page as me.

Life is full of unlikely coincidences. But it is fun when they get noticed.
