I'm fine with the impeachment. I have no problem with a state senate saying "regardless of legal status of your crimes you have become such an embarrassment and distraction to the state you have to go."
That said, I don't really support barring him for life from public office in Illinois. First, he hasn't been convicted of anything, and if he isn't then such an action is extremely punitive. Second, even if he is convicted, if he can get people to vote for him for something then more power to him. And those people deserve what they get.
